On Friday, July 15th, the Utica Food Pantry hosted it’s first “Food Desert” distribution event outside of Upstate Family Heath Center on Noyes Street. From the turnout, our mobile distribution initiative was overwhelmingly vital for those in need.
The Mobile Unit of the Utica Food Pantry was created to provide food to those who live in “Food Deserts” – an area within the city where local residents lack access to a neighborhood grocery store, or they do not have the mobility to travel to the Utica Food Pantry.
Thank you to all who donate to the Utica Food Pantry and to our hard working volunteers. This would not have been possible without you.
With continued donations from our giving community, the Utica Food Pantry will be able to carry on the efforts to provide quality food to many other “Food Desert” areas.
Utica Food Pantry
The Pantry serves the residents of the City of Utica who meet The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) income eligibility requirement.
Typical clients include working families trying to make ends meet, people experiencing a temporary job loss, individuals whose SNAP (food stamps) benefits have been reduced, and senior citizens. Seniors often seek help because most are on a fixed income and are impacted by higher medication and health care costs.
As a private, nonprofit organization we depend entirely on donations from individuals, corporations, foundations and other strategic partners.
Hours of Operation:
Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 11am – 1pm
The Utica Food Pantry was founded in 1982 when it incorporated as a 501(c) organization. As a private, nonprofit organization we depend entirely on donations from individuals, corporations, foundations and other strategic partners.
